Paying for purchases via NFC, simply by placing a smartphone on the terminal – everyone is used to this and does not want to lose convenience. You won’t have to give up contactless payments, because there are several domestic and foreign analogues that are still working.
Note that all third-party NFC payment systems do not work on the iPhone – iOS-based smartphones only support Apple Pay. How to remove Samsung Pay?

The full text of the error in the pop-up notification is as follows: “The software on your phone does not meet the requirements. Contactless payments cannot be made from this device. Perhaps the reason is that the device settings are rooted or uncertified software is installed. For more information, contact your phone manufacturer or visit our Help Center. Please note that you can still pay with Google Pay online.”
Or the same error directly in the data of a bank card added to Google Pay: “Your phone cannot be used for contactless payment because its software does not meet the requirements. You can learn more about this in the Google Pay Help Center.”
But now more and more users are facing it, including those who did not root their smartphone, and their phone model was officially certified by Google to install Google services even before the imposition of sanctions.
Fortunately, for users whose devices are Google-certified and have the latest up-to-date firmware, this problem can now be solved without much difficulty. We hope that this is a bug, and not a tightening of Google’s policy towards Huawei.
The solution to the problem in most cases is quite simple:
- Find the Google Play Services app in the list, open its settings and “Clear Cache” and “Clear Storage” in turn.
- Repeat the operation for Google Services Framework and Google Pay.
- Reboot smartphone.
- Log in to the Google Pay app and check the payment availability notification.
If the above steps did not help you, then you also need to make sure that you have the latest available version of the official firmware for your device. It does not hurt to additionally check for updates for these applications, especially Google Pay.
Some users find it helpful to completely uninstall the Google Pay app and reinstall it.
As a more radical alternative, a complete reset of the device to factory settings.

If after all the manipulations described in the main part of the instructions, the payment did not work for you, and the security certificate on Google Play has failed, then you just have to wait for an update from Huawei.
As a temporary solution for making payments via NFC, you can use the SberPay application (if you are a Sberbank client) or Wallet (koshelek.app). All of these apps are available on both Google Pay and the Huawei AppGallery. If you use a MIR payment system card, try the MirPay application.
Why NFC doesn’t work
NFC on smartphones may not work for several reasons. First, estimate the distance between paired devices. If it is more than 10 cm, then the option may not work correctly. The shorter this distance, the better the connection. Therefore, bring your smartphone close to another gadget.
If NFC still does not work, then you need to look for other causes of the malfunction. There are several of them.
NFC disabled in device settings
You can check if the module is enabled or not in the settings:
- Go to the “Settings” section. It is available in the main menu or on the desktop.
- Go to the “Connected devices” menu.
- We find the inscription NFC.
- Check if the slider is active. If not, then click on it.
The procedure is slightly different depending on the smartphone model. For example, the difference may be in the title of sections or individual items in the menu.
NFC does not work in sleep mode
If the smartphone is in sleep mode, NFC will not work.

- Open the “Screen” menu item.
- Select “Advanced”.
- Click on “Sleep Mode”.
- Set the desired time after which the display will turn off.

- Select Battery Saver.
- Click the NFC button.
- Set the “Do not save” option.

NFC disabled in flight mode
In this state, the built-in module will not function.
The only option is to turn off Airplane Mode.

- We remove the blocking.
- We get to the main screen.
- Swipe the screen from top to bottom to bring up a menu with phone functions.

- Click on it to make it gray. This means that the mode is inactive.

NFC function already activated
Sometimes an error occurs due to the fact that a program that uses NFS is already enabled on the device. In this case, there is only one way out. Close such an application and try to establish a connection with another device again.
There are metal objects between the mobile device and the tag
Do not place metal objects between the phone and the NSF tag when transferring data. This results in a loss of connection between devices. The functionality of the module will be broken.
Smartphone does not support NFC contactless payment
If your device doesn’t have this option, you won’t be able to use it. This also applies to the second device. During the pairing of devices, an error will pop up reading the transfer via NFC.
Sending data using NFS requires that both gadgets have a built-in module. In the absence of such technology, you can try to install the chip in your smartphone manually. For example, buy a SIM card or an antenna with NFS. Or hang a label with the module on the case.
NFC tag reading error
This error occurs due to the incompatibility of the device with the tag.
To check this, you need to do the following:
- We go to the website of the tag developer.
- Open the “Compatibility” section.
- Find the model of your phone.
- Checking compatibility with the chip.
If the gadget is incompatible with the NFS tag, you will have to buy another chip.

Payment by phone is possible thanks to NFC technology. To do this, the device must be equipped with a chip of the so-called
“near field communication” which transmits data to the terminal via
radio channel at a frequency of just over 13 MHz. Its area of effect is only a few
centimeters. This is done on purpose so that the signal cannot be intercepted.
More recently, NFC chips were
a sign of premium smartphones, but now it’s harder to find a phone without it
functions. N FC can be used for exchange
information and even transferring files between phones, but the main thing is
use – payment for purchases through terminals that support this protocol.
An important point: this requires not only the presence of an NFC chip as such, but also
payment software that will access it, establishing a connection and transferring
payment information. It can be a bank application or any third-party application
application, but a few years ago there was no alternative in the whole world
payment systems from two global corporations — Apple and Google. All Android users
paid Google Pay, Apple users — respectively.
Then the situation changed for Android users
– Samsung Pay first appeared, then Huawei Pay, Mir Pay and SberPay started in Russia.

Huawei Pay
Contactless payment service from Huawei, which only works with the brand’s smartphones.
